The Brighton Midsummer Fencing Festival 2026

The Brighton Midsummer Fencing Festival – 2026

The Sussex Sword Academy is delighted to announce a weekend of historical fencing, study and related discussion in the beautiful town of Brighton on the midsummer weekend of 2026 (the 20th and 21st of June).

Our focus with the event is on the understanding, development and practice of these more classical weapons forms which perhaps you already study or would like to know more of. Additionally it is our hope that these two longest daylight days of the year will allow us to intoduce those that come to the city that we love.

To provide a flavour of the regency history that Brighton is famous for the event is to be held at the Old Ship Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in this vibrant city, proudly situated on the famous seafront and looking southward out to sea. This historic building has hosted many renowned guests including royalty, aristocracy, artists, and musicians, including Charles II and Paganini.

The weekend will give a chance for those from near and far to join together in the delight of swordplay. We have a line up of top instructors and a variety of weapon styles, alongside a varied programme and plenty of time to free fence and socialise.

We very much look forward to seeing you there.
