Step 3 – So what’s next
You’ve done all the tough stuff so just relax.
You’ve decided on a weapon form you like the look of, selected the date you can make and by now you should have an email in your inbox with a copy of that information as well as what is on this page. Hopefully the information below will answer any questions you have before your first session, but if not just email into Info@SussexSwordAcademy.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
What do I need to bring?
- Comfortable, loose T-shirt.
- Comfortable track suit trousers.
- Training shoes
- Water Bottle
When is it?
- Longsword and Unarmed: Every Monday night. 8pm to 10pm, arrive from 7:45pm
- Broadsword and Rapier: Every Wednesday night. 7.30pm to 10pm, arrive from 7:15pm
How much does it cost?
- The first session is FREE.
- Then £9 per lesson.
- Discount available for pre-booking 4 lessons (the price is £30, a saving of £6 over four individual lessons).
- Regular attendees will be required to pay an annual membership fee of £10 per year after the completion of 4 lessons, this fee covers personal insurance and administration.
Are there any age limits?
- Generally we take students from 16 onwards
- There is no upper age limit
- Persons aged between 13 and 16 may attend training sessions when accompanied by a parent.
Where is it?
- Manor Gym, Manor Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN2 5AE
- Approximately 2 miles from Central Brighton Train Station
- Situated along major bus routes from Hove and Brighton Station

How do I get there?
- Buses 1, 1A, 7, 14B, 14C, 23, 47 & 52 drop off close to the Gym
- Closest bus stops are ‘St. Mary’s Hall’ and ‘Sussex Square’
- Check Bus Times and Routes
- Driving? Street parking availability is limited and parking tariff’s are in place till 8pm.
- There are coin operated machines for pay and display tickets or you can pay using the PayPhone
